あなたが信じてきた「常識」、実は違うかもしれません。

ベアリングオイルの良し悪しって、だいたい一つの方法で決めてますよね。ローラーを指で弾いて、無負荷でどれだけ長く回り続けるか。確かに視覚的に気持ちいいテストです。でも残念ながら見ている場所が違います。

無負荷で軽く長く回るローラーって、実はそのローラー自体の慣性を見せてるだけなんです。重さとサイズで決まる、ローラー自身の性質です。中のオイルの性能とは、ほとんど関係ありません。油を一切差してなくても、大きいローラーは小さいローラーより長く回ります。それって潤滑じゃなくて、ただの物理ですよね。

実際のコース上では、ローラーがフリーで回り続けることなんてありません。コーナーを曲がるたび、壁に当たるたび、ベアリングには常に、実際の荷重がかかってます。本当に大事なのはその瞬間で、ガリレオはまさにそのために作ったオイルです。

目指したのは、ただ軽いだけのオイルじゃありません。撹拌抵抗を考慮したベースオイルの粘度と、添加剤による金属への吸着力。この二つをケンカさせず両立させることに、今回一番こだわりました。

■テストしました
壁から受ける力を再現するため、ローラーに錘を一つ吊って荷重をかけ、モーターの消費電流（転がり抵抗の目安）を測定しました。ドライのままのベアリングと、ガリレオを差したベアリングで比べてみました。

使用モーター：パワーダッシュ、3.0V

無負荷のときは、ドライとガリレオで差は見られませんでした。これは意図した通りです。この条件での勝負は、もともと目指していません。

50g荷重：ドライ比で約16%の電流減少
100g荷重：約12%の減少
200g荷重：約6%の減少

荷重が上がっても、ガリレオはドライより電流が低いままでした。つまり、圧がかかっても油膜が壊れずに持ちこたえてるってことです。転がり抵抗が小さいと、モーターや電池への負担も減ります。浮いた分のパワーは、加速や最高速に回すことができます。

■なぜ「ガリレオ」なのか
世界中が信じていた「目に見える真実」の裏側を見抜いて、本当のところを指し示したあの人物への敬意です。ガリレオも同じです。何もしてない時に見栄えのいい数字を追うんじゃなくて、本当に意味のある瞬間のために設計する。そういう発想で作ってます。

What you thought you knew might be wrong.

Most bearing oils are judged one way: flick the roller, watch it spin, and see how long it keeps going with no load at all. It's a satisfying thing to watch. It's also looking in the wrong place.

A roller spinning long and light with no load is really just showing off its own moment of inertia — a property of its mass and size, not the oil inside it. Even bone dry, a larger roller will out-spin a smaller one. That's physics, not lubrication.

On an actual course, a roller is never free-spinning. Every corner, every wall contact, the bearing is always carrying real load. That's the moment that actually matters — and it's the moment GALILEO was built for.

What we were after wasn't just a light oil. A base oil viscosity that accounts for churning resistance, and an additive that gives it real adhesion to metal — getting both to work together, without one undermining the other, was the whole point this time.

THE TEST
We hung a weight from the roller to simulate the force it feels against the wall in a corner, then measured motor current draw (a direct read on rolling resistance), comparing a dry bearing against GALILEO on the same roller.

Test rig: PowerDash motor, 3.0V

No load: no measurable difference between dry and GALILEO. That's exactly as intended — this isn't the condition we're trying to win.

50g load: roughly 16% lower current draw than dry
100g load: roughly 12% lower
200g load: roughly 6% lower

Even as the load increases, GALILEO keeps drawing less current than a dry bearing — meaning the oil film is holding under pressure, not breaking down. Less rolling resistance means less strain on your motor and battery, and that spared power goes straight back into acceleration and top speed.

WHY "GALILEO"
